Mr. John Donovan is currently raising funds to build 10 houses in Vietnam in 2014. With the support of many friends, Mr. Donovan has given 20 houses to poor and needy families in Tien Giang Province (Mekong Delta) between 2012 and 2013. He analyses the cases provided by the Tien Giang Union Friendship Organization and chooses the most desperate families. Loving House Project is pleased to offer Administrative support to Mr. Donovan’s hard work and commitment to changing lives in Vietnam.

LHP is proud to announce our project for 2013. If you live in or near Chesterton - Indiana, you must be familiar with the French Sisters from the Fraternite Notre Dame. For several years these Sisters come to the European Market every Saturday to sell their baked goods and raise funds for their charity, in the Austin neighborhood in Chicago, IL. Their charitable works include a daily soup kitchen, which serves an average of 250 nutritious meals/day; a weekly food pantry program that provides fresh produce and canned food to 300 families and an after school program for children who hang out in the streets of that neighborhood. The FND receives donations from local supermarkets and restaurants and really needs to expand their storage capacity for frozen food. Loving House Project has committed to raising $5,000 USD to buy the much needed freezers that will allow appropriate storage for the donations received. We are honored to help such cause and we count on your support to make it happen! For more information about the beautiful work done by Fraternite Notre Dame, please visit their website at: http://www.fraternitenotredame.com

June 2013 - Today we received photos from the greenhouse in the PP community! We were overjoyed to see how well the space is being used and how much food they are producing! The fresh and organic produce is used to feed the children at school. The teachers are working with their students in teams to see who grows the best vegetables. Amazing work done by some amazing people that we were honored to help and work with. Our heartfelt thanks go to our supporters for their trust in LHP and to all the people who make Living Heart Peru.

Alyssa is an example of a giving, caring heart and we are so proud of her! She is a real inspiration in our lives. Thank you Alyssa, your kindness will bring some needed nutrition for many children in the Peru - Iquitos area of the Amazon forest. May God always bless you with much health and happiness!

Loving House Project and Living Heart Peru - Educational Greenhouse Project

We are excited to share our plans for 2012! This year, LHP will work with Living Heart Peru, a registered UK/Peruvian charity that supports remote, impoverished highland agrarian communities above the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

LHP has commited to raising $3,500 USD to fund the construction of a 30 x 90ft (250 m2 ) greenhouse in a poor village in the Sacred Valley - Peru, and provide a full year training in organic farming for the whole community of 120 families, including regular workshops given by a horticultural teacher, and the supply of educational materials and organic seeds. The greenhouse will be built next to the village’s local school and the produce will be used to feed the school children, pre-school children and expectant mothers primarily.

Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. As always, 100% of the money donated will be used in funding one more amazing project!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Don’t forget to see the amazing video about their work - Living Heart Peru - an association with a HEART!

LHP was happy to provide Administrative support for this building project.

LHP Director Joe Hursey was able to visit four of the families who received Loving Houses in previous years and is proud to report that the families are doing fine and the homes are very well kept!

January 2012 - The work at El Hogar San Francisco de Asis has been completed. LHP funded a remodeling of their kitchen and one bathroom and painted the entire building. Additional funds raised were donated to help with the construction of an elevator for the home. This elevator will make the lives of many of the children with mobility problems safer and much easier. It was an honor for us to work with Dr. Anthony Lazzara and his staff. We hope that in the future we will be able to work at El Hogar again. For more information about El Hogar, visit: www.villalapazfoundation.org

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered financial and moral support for this project!

November 11, 2011 - Joe and I spent the last two days getting to know the 57 children of Villa La Paz or, El Hogar de San Francisco de Asis, and the amazing staff and volunteers. Although it can seem a little chaotic at times, everything is very well organized considering the many different illnesses and disabilities of the children. They are always happy and ready to help each other and do their chores.

The new tile and counters in the kitchen are almost half way done. We are hoping to start painting the building on Monday. Photos coming soon!

We are very happy to announce that Loving House Project has met its fundraising goals, thanks to the support from our family, dear friends and the Chesterton Lions Club and Duneland Resale. We would also like to thank a local business woman, who wishes to remain anonimous, for her major continuous support of LHP. We leave on November 9th to Chaclacayo - Peru, to work on the projects. Our special thanks to our granddaughter Alyssa Main for her giving heart. For two years in a row, in lieu of presents for her birthday, she asked her friends to make donations to LHP! We are so proud of you Lyssa Lou!

Great compassion is the root of altruistic action. It really is a source of wonder. There is no greater source of help and happiness“. (Dalai Lama)
