The Sawgrass Marketplace donated a SYM Scooter - Fiddle II 50 for a Fund Raising Raffle and 100% of the proceeds were given to Loving House Project. The drawing will happen on July 11th, 2009 at noon. The Sawgrass Market is located at 1505 S. Calumet Rd in Chesterton. Only 300 tickets were sold! We cant wait to have the name of the lucky winner!

$1,100 of the raffle proceeds funded a heart surgery for Mrs. Kim Lien. We pray that all goes well with the surgery and we hope to build her Loving House in November! LHP thanks everyone who helped make the raffle a success! Special thanks to Sawgrass Marketplace for the generous donation!

Loving House Project # 6 will be given to the Dang family. The two sisters, Dang Thi Tham (30) and Dang Thi Nhan (28), both mentally ill, are cared for by their stepmother since their father recently passed away. They live in a small hut in a muddy area on the family property. When it rains, the water covers the floor inside their hut. The girls need a safe, dry and clean place to live. The family asks for a small bedroom with a bathroom, built in concrete beds and a slanted floor to facilitate cleaning.

LHP, with the help of Mr. Cu (Red Cross Engineer - Volunteer), designed a small two bedroom cottage with a bathroom. Retaining walls were built to raise the home site 1 meter above the current ground level. Three windows and multiple vents will be built in to provide light and ventilation.

This project is scheduled to be completed on January 9th, 2009.

The Dang sisters’ Loving House started construction on November 30th, 2008. and was finished on January 9, 2009.

Loving House Project’s fourth house was given to Ms. Yen on 12/03/2008. When Ms. Yen was 18 years old she was severely burned living her with excessive scarring on her face and body. Over the last 5 years American Plastic Surgeons have repaired much of the damage caused by her accident.
Loving House Project built her a home, a place where she will live and make a living running her small sewing business.

Ms. Yen’s Loving House started being built on November 8th and was completed on December 3rd, 2008 at a cost of $2,515 USD.
