In 2015 LHP Directors dedicated their spare time and labor throughout Summer and Fall to growing fresh, natural and healthy produce in their vegetable garden. It was a great year for farming and the garden produced much more food than was needed for our own consumption. From June through October boxes of produce were harvested and donated, on a weekly basis, to the Sisters of the Fraternite Notre Dame in Chicago, IL – adding up to over 1,000lbs of fresh produce. In addition to containers filled with corn, tomatoes, kale, potatoes, cabbages, green beans, onions and zucchinis, the weekly contributions included a 50lb bag of rice. In 2013 LHP had the privilege to support The Sisters at the Church of Our Lady of Frechou in Chicago, IL – and got to know their needs for healthy food to be used in their soup kitchen, which feeds an average of 250 people a day. We were happy to learn that our support enabled them to further their charitable actions!
