There are over 9,000 families in need of a home in Tien Giang Province, Vietnam. Loving House Project believes that everybody deserves a home! We will build as many houses as we can raise the funds for.
Please take a moment to learn a little bit about some of the people that we are trying to help. Out of many families that we visited in May/09, these are the cases we were not able to help.
We need your help to build more Loving Houses in 2010.
1. Ms. Le Thi Ai - 41 years old. Ms. Ai’s husband is a fisherman, they have two teenage daughters and one is seriously ill in the hospital. They have made two loans to pay for the hospital bills and are in desperate need for help. LHP would love to be able to bring some comfort to their lives and give them a safe place to care for their kids.
2. Ms. Le Ngoc Bach - Ms. Bach is 61 years old and has a son with mental disorder. Her daughter in law ran away so she takes care of her two grandsons while her son works to bring home less than $1/day. Her house was damaged by a typhoon and they live now in a very small hut with mud floor. We understand this family deserves a decent home to raise the children.
July, 12 2009 - LHP was invited to have a booth at the Picnic Mua He 2009 organized by the “Vietnamese Nail Salons Association (VNSA). Our two amazing friends Kim Nguyen and David Cao donated an iPod Touch to be raffled, giving a 100% of the proceeds to LHP. In one afternoon, filled with games, Karaoke, watermelon eating contest and much fun, Kim and David were able to raise $1,250.00 USD for Loving House Project. The VNSA and the Chicago Viet Bao Magazine participated with generous donations to LHP . We were overwhelmed with the warm reception and want to thank the support of the Chicago Vietnamese community!

July, 15 2009 - The Sawgrass Marketplace donated a SYM Scooter - Fiddle II 50 for a Fund Raising Raffle and 100% of the proceeds were given to Loving House Project.
On July 11th, 2009, at noon, in the presence of Sawgrass vendors and customer, LHP had the drawing for the Scooter Fiddle II 50. The winning ticket was picked by Christopher, who is 5 years old, and the lucky winner is Carly Simpson from Michigan City. With the help of many friends, LHP was able to sell the 300 tickets and raise $3000.00.
Part of the money has paid for Kim Lien’s surgery, which happened on July 21st, 2009, and the remaining funds will help build one Loving House for Kim Lien and her family, in November 2009.
We want to thank the Sawgrass Market for the generous donation and all of our supporters, who made this raffle possible! Special thanks to our friend Robert Tosch and family for their generosity and commitment to our cause!
