Projects:

Loving House Project # 6 will be given to the Dang family. The two sisters, Dang Thi Tham (30) and Dang Thi Nhan (28), both mentally ill, are cared for by their stepmother since their father recently passed away. They live in a small hut in a muddy area on the family property. When it rains, the water covers the floor inside their hut. The girls are unable to live in the main house because they are disruptive and have problems with personal hygiene (I prefer not to go into details but, believe me, they really need the help). All the family asks for is a small bedroom with a bathroom, with built in concrete beds and a slanted floor to facilitate cleaning.

November 24, 2008 - Today we went to see the sisters that live in the hut. It had just finished raining, it breaks your heart to see the conditions in which these girls are living. Our engineer, Mr. Cu, is designing a small house, we hope to complete the paperwork and begin construction in a week. God knows these girls need help. We want to build a bright room with big windows, nice tile on the floor and indoor bathroom.

The Dang Thi sisters Loving House started construction on November 30th, 2008 and was completed on January 9, 2009.

December 10, 2008 - Today Ms. Hong and Mr. Ho went back to the house to inspect construction. We had to build a strong foundation, raising the ground abut 3 feet above the current level to avoid flooding. The material for the foundation was delivered and the septic system is built. Soon we should start the walls.

January 9, 2009 - Today the sisters Tham and Nhan received their Loving House. You can see the joy in Ms. Nhan’s face in every picture. LHP hopes to have made their lives better, safer and more comfortable.

May 16, 2009 - Today we visited the Dang sisters. Ms. Tham, the youngest, was very happy and proud to show us her Loving House. We were glad to see how much their new home improved the way they live. Dr. Lien said that Ms. Nhan, the sister with worst mental conditions, seems to enjoy looking at the flowers in their little garden. Seeing that the sisters are living in a clean and safe environment made our day!
